Repeal bitches!

75 years ago... yesterday... Our country pulled it's collective head out of it's ass. That's right. The 75th anniversary of the repeal of Prohibition.

Everyone take a moment and have a couple drinks. It's a rare freedom that is returned after it's taken away. It took 14 years, but the freedom loving bastards in this country managed to wrest their booze back from the cluthces of those puritan fucks that deemed it immoral.

Fuck them. I drink my booze and piss on their graves.

The loss of alcohol was keenly felt and widely missed. After a few years of a dry country, the population wanted a drink very badly. It started gang wars throughout the country. Speakeasies appeared across the country. Moonshine and bootlegged liquor were huge problems. And it still took them 14 years to overturn a unpopular amendment. That was a frontal assault on a person's right to live their own lives and make their own choices.

It's a lot harder to get rights back when they're taken by stealth, apathy and populism.

Just remember... 14 years.

And it will take how many more years before the draconian drug laws are repelled? And lets not forget other substances that have valid medicinal properties that the FDA now prohibit solely because people are too concerned with finding a new "high" and using them stupidly (i.e. ma haung). Many of the current prohibitionist type laws exist for wrong reasons, but I doubt I will live to see them repelled.

but... America is a christain country! We have to have god in everything we do! We can't even say that the success of our nation (or state) can be ours without specifically acknowledging the hand of god in it... Isn't this what sets America apart? And if alcohol is a sin, then why should our nation allow it? Much less abortion, gays and anything or anyone that threatens the establishment of a religious-nation?

It's not about choices, it's about doing what we're told, when we're told for the good of those that run our nation.

Oh wait... that was the last eight years. I'd forgotten that this nightmare is almost over.
