Isn't it ironic that the largest concentration of EXTREMELY religious people just happen to be where the majority of the widespread warring, violence and human rights violations are occurring for what seems thousands of years? A true mob mentality in existence.
I am a Catholic. I go to Church rarely. I believe in a higher power in the grand scheme of the Universe. That higher power does *not knowingly* enter into my decision making on a day-to-day basis to my knowledge, nor has it sat down next to me and had a conversation. Maybe it does exist? Who knows. What I DO know is that I understand the fundamental differences between right and wrong, good and bad, evil and divinity.
There are those individuals (and groups) throughout the history of man who have committed the most heinous acts, atrocities and unbelievable displays of human capabilities - mind boggling. It is expected in the law of averages to have a few of these occasionally. However, I cannot fathom such a large group of warring, hatred, oppression and violence existing in one place over such a long period of time.
No matter if you believe in a higher power or not we all believe in personal morality and common sense - both of which a disproportionate number of people in the Middle East seem to be without.
