Michael Phelps is human after all

It was party like many parties and a 23-yr old took a toke off a bong. Not exactly news worthy, except it was Michael Phelps letting loose a bit, and some dickhead with a camera snapped a picture. Then dickhead sold (you know a dickhead ain't letting that go for free) the picture to a Brit tabloid. Mr. Phelps did the adult thing and apologized for his lapse of judgment. Now some southern sheriff wants to prosecute Mr. Phelps.

To Mr. Phelps: Glad to see you are human. I hope you decided you didn't like being high and that is why you said you'd never toke up again. If you apologized out of guilt, you are setting yourself up for failure.

To the Picture Taker: Acting like some cheesy paparazzi at a party is not cool. I hope you are shunned from all parties for life. You deserve to live the life of the loser you truly are. Of course if you crashed the party because your loser self was not invited, that would explain a lot.

To Sheriff Leon Lott: Is people who get high on pot the biggest crime in your town? If it is, there are some cops around here that could use help with some real crimes. Please get a life. If you are hell bent on making an example of Mr. Phelps, make sure you track down every single guest at that party that took a hit off that bong, not just the famous one. Maybe our happy little party picture taker can help you track down some more "dangerous" criminals.

What can we learn from the continuing saga of "When Sports Stars Go Wrong" is that 1) Sports Stars are human and flawed; 2) Sports Stars should not be looked at as role models simply because they are good at playing sports; 3) Never take a hit off a bong when someone points a camera or cell phone at you.
