Male prostitutes - the last barrier for women to pass?

The Shady Lady Ranch is looking for a couple of good men. In this crappy economy the pleasure business is having a tough time, so some want to look outside the current model - you know the one where hot chicks give men a good time. Heidi Fleiss tried offering the gals a good time a few years ago, but her knack for side venues (drugs) and her felony record derailed her attempts.

The Mustang Ranch tried it 30 years ago “and found it was not a viable concept,” said George Flint, spokesman for the Nevada Brothel Association. Flint says the concept is “probably socially unacceptable.” Says who? Some guy? PHFFT!

News flash George - some ladies have good jobs and disposable income now. This ain't 1979!

Flint also said: "Seducing a woman and seducing a man in a brothel environment are different things completely. One can take a few minutes, the other can take hours. It wouldn't make money". Bobbi Davis, owner of Shady Lady agrees that women customers might differ from men. She plans at least initially to keep her current prices for services - $500 for two hours, $800 for three. "That may change. We're figuring that women may want a longer period of time, maybe a little more romance. They're not quite like men in that respect," she said.

Umm, and this is a problem how? If a chick's got the cash, she can have all the time she wants, right? Personally two hours is more than enough, if I were in the market. I might want the room a bit longer for a nap, but he can go on his merry way. I wouldn't care to be paying for a post colloidal snuggle. Itch scratched, end of discussion.

There is one other little problem - the health code requires mandatory cervical exams. Obviously the code needs a bit of tweeking.

I saw this and wanted to rant about it but you beat me to the punch.

It's an interesting proposition really from several aspects:

- Men are more easily monitored for STDs than women, and so maintenance and healthcare costs should be significantly lower for male prostitutes.
- They are less able to perform on a time basis than women. Their performance might also be impaired several things, mood, health, the attractiveness of the person who is paying for them.
- How would contraception be managed? (I plead ignorance on this topic in general, since I don't know how female prostitutes handle it either).
- Would their clientèle be limited to just women?
- Would they be expected/allowed to climax or just bring their partner to climax? (This is interesting because some women have significant difficulty in this, after two hours would the guy just go "oh well sorry?").

A lot has changed in 30 years, not the least of which that more women have money and control over it. I think it could very well work, and it would make a *very* interesting TV series...

If the HBO series Cathouse is to be believed, condoms are mandatory for the clients. And they sometimes handle female clients as well. So I wouldn't think it'd be any different.
