Windows is going to try and go Apple on it's users. It should be interesting to see what happens. My prediction? High chance of another "Vista" debacle, an OS that no one likes, wants, uses, or supports.
It's funny how arrogant Microsquish is about the whole "let's change everything you know" paradigm. I've written about it before, how they insist, just like with the MS Office 'ribbon' that new is better. Well no, no it's not. And guess what, Windows users don't like an Apple-like UI, or they would have bought Apple to begin with.
MS wants you to believe that the *new* way of doing things is better because it's more like smartphones and tablets. I'm sorry, was that the stupidest thing you ever heard? It's like saying that cars should have handlebars because that's what motorcycles and bikes have. Stupid. UI's need to provide easy access to what the user wants to do with the machine, not make every machine large and small look the same.
Bill isn't dead yet, but I suspect that he's sitting back and watching to see how this unfolds. It would be damn interesting to know if he's installed Windows 8 on his systems... or if he's just waiting for 9 like the rest of us.
At least it explains why I keep getting sale offers for Windows 8 upgrades. The last offer even included an "upgrade for life" (I assume they mean life of the machine). Seems like they know already that it's not the greatest thing since sliced bread. I also recall someone saying "Never install an even-numbered upgrade". Yeah, I think I'll take that advice. Thanks.
