Seen on the road this morning: a small forklift driving along the road with a twenty foot metal pole in a concrete block protruding from the forks. Clearly someone wanted to move the pole-on-a-block from point A to B. Equally clearly they put no thought into it. Because the pole stuck out one full vehicle length ahead of the slow-moving lift. In addition, when viewed from the end on it was almost invisible to oncoming or turning traffic. From the side the entire contraption resembed nothing so much as a mini-seige engine. That or Terminator meets Unicorn of Death.
Stupid is as stupid does. And I'm just hoping that it didn't to any poor hapless person just pulling into the street. Of course the real kicker was that if the pole actually did hit anything it was going to smash through the back of the block and impale the driver as well. Small consolation, but Darwin doesn't typically discriminate.
