I could not have said it better - In referring to the flight 1549 crew, Obama said: "And it made me think, if everybody did their job — whatever that job was — as well as that pilot did his job, we'd be in pretty good shape,"
Just think about this. The pilot thought about minimizing as much loss to life, on the plane and on the ground. He also checked the plane twice, although he could have run for the door, too.
Think about how many of America's corporations have acted - Many of those "pilots" ran out of the cockpit without a proper landing, grabbing their "golden parachutes" and figurative stepping on babies and old ladies before jumping out the door. Those planes have crashed and their employees and the American tax payer is burning in the rubble.
Now if they followed the fine example set by Sully - The CEOs would say "We are going to forgo our salaries and bonuses in cash and take them in stock that we will hold on to for X years." They would walk the floor several times with employees to see how the plane can be kept aloft. Most of all they would stay with it till they knew everyone was safe or go broke with everyone else.
Alas, we know most will never follow an honorable example, but it is a nice thought.
