Hate Microsoft

Update after fucking update. They couldn't get it right the first time so WE have to deal with updates. I finally downloaded and installed Security Pack 2. I know, I know, should have done it a long time ago, but detest the whole process. And you know what - this time was no different. Took a half hour to install. Then when I said - go ahead restart my computer, I have no fucking idea what it was doing. All I know is I heard the hard drive cranking for about 10 minutes.

If the TV or any other appliance or entertainment device took as long as Microsuck updates took, then we would find another way. Bill Gates - take a clue - when we turn on out computers its because we want to use them, not got through step after step while your software fixes the fuck-ups that you didn't do right in the first place!

Welcome to the club. Get a space at the back of the Conga line.

The best part now is - if you ignore the update and choose NOT to do it when they say it's ready - they go and do it ANYway and boot your machine too (if you run XP - they can't get away with that nonsense with 2k)

Well, you can turn those automatic updates off pretty simply. However, speaking as someone who deals with exploits all day long, I have to say M$ is doing a fairly good job at patching their products for security problems. The weak link has always been getting people to update.

Any major program with the scope of Windows has flaws. Given the massive usage of the product, you can be sure that people will try to find as many of those flaws as possible.

If Linux had 95% of the PC market, it would have just as many patches. Ditto with Mac. Since they don't, many of their flaws go unnoticed. And even then, Linux has a regular stream of security updates on it's various components.
