Some Jews and Muslims can get along. However, Jews and Muslims are noted more for their distrust and dislike of each other. Considering that, it is interesting to note their similarities, particularly among the more "conservative" or "orthodox" adherents.

1) Both avoid pork.
2) The dietary laws of Halal and Kosher are similar, so are the butchering techiques.
3) Both require some level of physical separation of the sexes of non-related people.
4) Both proscribe modest dress for women that includes the covering of the head (orthodox Jewish women frequently use wigs rather than cloth)
5) Both have similar procedures for handling the dead, like avoiding desecration of the body (no autopsy, for example) and burying the body quickly

I'm sure there are more, but I my intent was not to explore every detail. I know some might say this over simplifies things, that things are more complicated than that. I say that is just hair splitting.

So I guess my question is: Since the two religions diverge after you get past the monotheistic aspect, then isn't possible that all the stuff listed above is more cultural than spiritual? No flaming needed, it's just a simple question.

Regarding the similarities, God (Allah) says in the Holy Quran "It is He Who sent down to thee (step by step), in truth, the Book, confirming what went before it; and He sent down the Law (of Moses) and the Gospel (of Jesus)." (The Holy Qurarn, 3:3)

Our God is One God, he has sent messengers and prophets for guidance, and for the worship of him alone. Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) was his last prophet and messenger.

God says in the Holy Quran “ Say: "We believe in Allah, and in what has been revealed to us and what was revealed to Abraham, Isma'il, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and in (the Books) given to Moses, Jesus, and the prophets, from their Lord: We make no distinction between one and another among them, and to Allah do we bow our will (in Islam)." (The Holy Quran, 3:84)

Thank you

God bless

Neither side is happy unless its at war with the other it seems - even if they agreed on absolutely everything. Eventually there will be nobody left on either side. Kinda like a fire burning, it will eventually put itself out after all the consumable materials have been spent.
