OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The manager of an Oklahoma abortion clinic says the requirements of the state's new law have been difficult for some patients to handle.

Reproductive Services of Tulsa director Linda Meek said Wednesday the clinic is complying with the law requiring women to have an ultrasound and hear a detailed description of the fetus before getting an abortion. Meek says some patients have left the ultrasound room in tears, but none has canceled an abortion.

The bullshit the supporters of this grotesquerie have spread is that it will "help save pregnant women from trauma." Doesn't seem like it in practice does it? No. In fact no sensible person would have seen it that way. Instead it's designed to punish women who are exercising their rights. Treating women like vessels, putting fetuses above the health, welfare and safety is the priority of people who don't have a fucking clue as to what it's like to be pregnant at the wrong time in their life.

Fuck all the hypocritical lot of you fuckers who supported this atrocity.

I'm all for abortion under 3 circumstances: Rape, Health problems with mom, serious developmental issues with the baby.

Convicted Felons on Death Row aren't immediately executed for several reasons. One reason is so that a reasonable amount of time can be given to any appeals, new evidence discovery, further DNA testing in certain cases, etc etc. Death is death.. it's final, there is no 2nd chance. There are numerous incidents of death row inmates found to be innocent even after 20 yrs or so - would suck to have been executed then found out they were really telling the truth wouldn't it? In my opinion this new law is doing the same thing by attempting to slow down the decision making process a bit to give them more time to realize that their decision is in fact a final one - there is no going back.

There is a longer waiting period to obtain a gun than there is to get an abortion!

There is a longer waiting period to import an animal from overseas than to get an abortion.

There is a longer waiting period to get a marriage certificate than to get an abortion.

Unfortunately many of those who have had abortions aren't helping the cause by telling people many years later that they regretted their decision to abort their baby. Some even claim lifelong trauma after doing so. Duh? Makes you kinda wish you did the adoption thing now doesn't it?

Choosing adoption makes way more sense in the long run (provided there are no health problems with mom or baby or raped) because if at some point X number of years down the road you decide to find your child you still can. If you don't want to see your kid, then you don't have to. Problem solved.

What about the teen mom who doesn't want her life ruined? blah blah blah. There is much research that claims the mental trauma of having the child and the associated family issues they endure like embarrassment from parents and peers is far less than the trauma of looking back X yrs later and regretting their decision when they were like most teenagers, young and dumb.

What if a teen's father is an abusive prick? Is having the snot kicked out of you better than having an abortion? There are Muslim girls that have been murdered for far less. Trust me, leaving is not always a viable option. And don't give me the sanctimonious "she should have keep her legs shut BS". Takes two to tango and the boy gets to walks away.

The biggest problem I have with laws like Oklahoma's is that politicians are sticking their noses in doctor's offices. So much for HIPAA and privacy. Gee, maybe I should invite my elected official to my next pelvic exam or mammo. That seems like what the anti-right-to-choose nazi's want.

I'd like a bit of privacy to make decisions with my own doctor, thank you very much. I thankfully don't live in OK!

Those hypocritical, self-aggrandizing holier-than-though assholes who seem to want to insist that every woman delivers every fetus no matter what the circumstances legally adopt and raise the baby themselves, pre-delivery. If they cannot or will not, what right do they have to interject ANYTHING into this matter. Shit or get off the pot.

Odessa, my main point is that many people make rash decisions when under pressure, we most likely all have from time to time as we mature. Fortunately many decisions we make can be reversed or altered at some point in the future. Abortion, much like Death Row, there is no '2nd chance' or going back.

I must say that I disagree with OK's method - graphical scare tactics don't bode well with me. That being said I do believe some sort of waiting period should be adopted to give women a chance to explore ALL their options and really put some thought into their actions, for what they are considering doing there is no 2nd chance.
