TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- A Tampa man faces charges after a deputy spotted him walking in a clown mask. According to jail records, the man was arrested Tuesday and charged with wearing a mask or hood on a public road over the age of 16 and resisting arrest without violence. The man, who turned 19 on Wednesday, has been released from Hillsborough County Jail on $750 bond.

Ok someone tell me why they arrested a 19 year old wearing a clown mask in public. Wtf. Why is wearing a mask illegal? And what does being on a public road have to do with it? What if he was wearing clown makeup, would that be illegal? What if he was walking on the grass? Do they arrest high school students on Halloween in Tampa when they set foot off the sidewalk?

IS FLORIDA THE STUPIDEST STATE IN THE NATION?

No wait... I know the answer to that last one.

I don't disapprove of the law. I remember being scared to hell by some damn teenager coming into a hardware store with some dumb ass skeleton sweatshirt with a face covering hood. I couldn't wait to pay for my stuff and get the fuck out of there before he pulled out a gun. I actually waited in the parking lot to see if he came running out with a gun in his hand so I could run his ass over.

I pose this, if masks are OK, why can't women have their driver's license photo with a burkas on? People hiding their faces (except for actors or costume parties) appear to be hiding something.

Big difference. One is a legal document that needs to uniquely represent who you are for legal and safety reasons. The other is just a matter of taste/comfort. Am I comfortable with people in masks walking around in public? Depends on the circumstances. Considering the gun laws and the self-defense laws in Florida I'd say I'd be more than comfortable with people walking around in masks if I were packing.

Although if you think about you do raise a good point. If clown masks are illegal in public then hajib should be illegal too - since it's both a mask and a hoodie. Frankly I think that anyone who choses to wear one voluntarily *is* pretty much a fool to begin with but that's a separate rant.
