I think I have it. I've figured out just what the fuck has been going on for the last 8.5 years, and better, I have a guess at the motivation. Ok conspiracy theorists settle down and take a ponder on this one...

Daddy Bush, the original, used to be our Ambassador to China. Yes China. Long time he big man in the Far East. But, when he got to be President it was only for a paltry four years, not really time enough to do anything useful or capitalize on his Cantonese Connection.

Jr. comes along later, and pulls a neat-o slight of hand. He turns all heads towards the Middle East with a spectacular display (albeit capitalizing on our national disaster)which draws everyone's attention away from...China.

So what's been happening in the last 8+ years eh? China has been sinking deep roots into Africa, sucking them dry of natural resources. It's been providing infrastructure and support to numerous nations around the globe whom we used to help, but don't have the time to any more. Think of the ol' Risk game. Resource, plus good will, plus a diverse base of support and what do you get? Take it one step further, who's the one behind all the organized hacking?

TORONTO — A vast electronic spying operation has infiltrated computers and has stolen documents from hundreds of government and private offices around the world, including those of the Dalai Lama, Canadian researchers have concluded.

In a report to be issued this weekend, the researchers said that the system was being controlled from computers based almost exclusively in China, but that they could not say conclusively that the Chinese government was involved.
